The 5 essential points in hand embroidery!

Why learn the essential points in hand embroidery?

Hand embroidery is a very simple and inexpensive craft to do at home. It allows you to develop your creativity and customize your clothes endlessly! There are a multitude of stitches to learn in hand embroidery, and it's easy to get lost in them all. Studio Francosse therefore presents its top 5 best hand embroidery stitches!

Top 5 essential embroidery stitches according to Studio Francosse

1. The backstitch

Backstitched

Undoubtedly the easiest and certainly the most used, the backstitch is useful for everything! Very easy to learn, it allows you to embroider writing perfectly, but also designs with lines and curves, like when I embroider the bodies of women for example.

2. The chain stitch

The chain stitch isn't easy to master and requires a bit of practice, but once you've mastered the technique, you can be proud of yourself. It resembles a small braid and adds texture to the embroidery!

3. The knot point

Knot point

The French knot allows you to make small balls with the yarn; it can be used for the center of flowers, mimosa, or flowers of all kinds, or even to fill in areas for those with more patience! Once you have mastered the French knot technique, you will be able to create the most beautiful pieces.

4. The past flat (the filling)

Filling point

The stitch used to fill in areas is called the satin stitch, but I call it the filling stitch! It is very easy to learn, however you have to be meticulous, and always stitch in the right place to get that perfect regularity effect.

5. The loop stitch (flowers)

Finally, the loop stitch! Very easy to learn, it's used to make flower petals, or simply leaves or little drops. Once you've mastered the loop stitch, you can embroider any flower you want!

How do I learn these embroidery stitches?

In my opinion, learning an embroidery stitch from a written explanation or diagram isn't the ideal solution. To learn how to do them and then practice them on your own, nothing beats a video.
Thanks to the video, you can learn and then automate the exact gesture to perform according to the embroidery stitch, and practice at your own pace on your embroidery material, by pausing and then replaying.
